The HGV Taskforce at work

Caroline joined the London HGV Taskforce on Wednesday 16th April to see first hand the work they do in making our streets safer for all road users including cyclists and pedestrians.

The team carry out detailed checks on lorries on London's Streets and pick up many issues from the security of the goods being carried in the lorry to threadbare tyres, drivers not taking their breaks and overloaded vehicles.

Campaigning in Redbridge

Caroline Pidgeon AM joined local Lib Dem Councillors Ian Bond, Gwyneth Deakins, Shoaib Patel and many local Lib Dem candidates and campaigners including Farrukh Islam, Paul Wicks and Geoff Seef out and about door knocking on Sunday 27th April.

The team knocked on doors in a number of wards campaigning for cleaner streets and action to sort out local rat runs.

"We had a fantastic reception on the doorstep and real recognition of how hard the local Lib Dem Focus Teams work" commented Caroline.

Campaigning in Lewisham

Caroline Pidgeon AM joined local Lib Dem campaigners including Mayoral candidate Duwayne Brooks and local Lib Dem councillor Julia Fletcher out and about talking to local residents on Saturday 12th April.

The team knocked on doors talking to local residents in Downham ward, hearing their concerns with the Labour run borough including about the cost of parking and street cleaning issues.

Action for pedestrians at Richmond Circus

Liberal Democrat campaigners in Richmond have been successful in changing the pedestrian crossing timings at the Richmond Circus junction.

Local residents contacted the Lib Dems about a crossing at the A316 (where it becomes Kew Road) which left some pedestrians stranded in the middle island for unacceptable lengths of time. The temptation to avoid the wait and cross against the flow of traffic had become a concern.

Campaigning in Merton

Caroline Pidgeon AM joined local Lib Dem campaigners in Merton on Thursday 24th April to join their campaign for step free access at Raynes Park station and to oppose the many cuts the local Labour Council have implemented.

Caroline joined Parliamentary Campaigner Shas Sheehan and local activists including Anthony Fairclough and Giles Bailey talking to local residents.
