Banning HGVs at peak times will make the roads safer for everyone

Liberal Democrat London Mayoral candidate Caroline Pidgeon has launched a campaign calling for all HGVs and construction vehicles to be banned from central London at peak hours.

The measure is aimed at improving road safety, particularly for cyclists, and reducing freight traffic on London's roads.

Caroline is also calling on everyone working in the construction industry to adopt standards including direct vision lorry cabs, and the confidential reporting of bad practice.

Make Upminster station accessible for everyone

Caroline Pidgeon has given her strong support to local campaigners calling for full disabled access at Upminster station.

Caroline said:

“The London Overground is a vital part of London’s transport network and it is vital that no one is denied access to it.

“Providing step free access to platform six at Upminster station would not just benefit disabled people but many other people as well, including parents with prams.

Campaigning in Haringey

Caroline Pidgeon AM joined local councillors and Assembly Candidate Dawn Barnes in Haringey on Friday 22nd January looking at a number of issues in the Borough.

From campaigning to save local pubs, libraries and post offices to supporting Caroline's campaign for half price fares by 7.30am, the team went out and about talking to local residents.


Streatham needs a Crossrail 2 station

Caroline Pidgeon AM joined Streatham Liberal Democrats and local Assembly candidate Michael Bukola out campaigning for Streatham to be included on the new Crossrail 2 underground line.

Caroline joined the team and discussed the issue with local residents. It is clear the old Morrison's site would be perfect for any new station.

"Streatham has missed out on improvements to public transport. It is important the a new line such as Crossrail 2 has a stop in Streatham", commented Caroline.

Meeting local businesses in Chiswick

Caroline Pidgeon AM, Lib Dem London Mayoral candidate, joined Hounslow Lib Dem members and Cllr Andrew Steed from Ealing talking to local businesses in Chiswick.

Lots of concerns were raised including Hounslow Council's parking charges, business rates and problems with Thames Water.

"It was great to meet so many local businesses and to see their wonderful local shops and hear about concerns. As Mayor I will do all I can to support our local high streets" commented Caroline.
