Brian Paddick announces Duwayne Brooks as Deputy Mayor for Youth and Communities

London Liberal Democrat Mayoral candidate Brian Paddick has today announced Duwayne Brooks as his candidate for Deputy Mayor for Youth and Communities - along with Caroline Pidgeon as his candidate for statutory Deputy Mayor.

The position would involve Duwayne working closely with communities and young people in London, listening and engaging with them and reporting back to the Mayor, offering advice and delivering projects beneficial to both groups.

Canvassing in Islington

Caroline joined a huge team of activists out in the sun on Sunday knocking on doors in Islington. The team included Baroness Sarah Ludford MEP and Bridget Fox.

“We had a great reception from local people and enjoyed the support of a team of Romanian Liberal Party members as well as many Islington and London activists” commented Caroline.

What does "free" Tube wifi really mean for passengers?

Tube stations across London will soon start to provide access to mobile internet services at the platform level ahead of the 2012 Games. The initial roll-out will deliver free unlimited Wi-Fi at 80 stations for all Tube passengers. Connectivity will not be available in the tunnels.

Caroline has raised concers that whilst it is being extended to 120 stations by the end of 2012, it appears that passengers will only be able to use this service for free if they are on a Virgin media contract. The costs if you are not on a Virgin media contract remain unclear.

Chiswick residents get review of Turnham Green Piccadilly line hours

After questioning from Caroline Pidgeon on behalf of Chiswick residents, the Mayor has indicated that Transport for London will hold a consultation on extending the hours that Piccadilly line trains stop at Turnham Green.

Caroline asked the Mayor:

Further to my previous questions supporting Piccadilly Line trains stopping at Turnham Green throughout the day, will you review TfL's position on the hours that tubes stop, to improve the service for local residents around Turnham Green? When can we expect the outcome of any review?
