New £1m "Routemasters" are a waste of public money

Caroline Pidgeon told the BBC's Tom Edwards - after learning that passengers on some of the Mayor's new "Routemaster replacements" will not be able to get on and off the bus between stops:

"It's quite extraordinary that when the Mayor's big campaign, the unique selling point of his new bus for London was that everyone can hop on and hop off it... the idea that the only time you can actually get off the bus is at a bus stop is quite ridiculous. And when these prototype buses cost over a million pounds each, it seems to me it's just a waste of public money."
