Mayor needs to come clean over how Tube changes will really impact on passengers

Caroline Pidgeon AM, Leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group, commenting on recently announced changed to the London Underground said:

"Some of these changes are inevitable and some are also welcome. However closing every ticket office, including at such busy stations as Waterloo and London Bridge, is a step too far. Providing ‘Visitor Information Centres’ at just six major London stations is totally inadequate. Tourists and visitors to London need to be able to easily find someone if they are buying a ticket for the first time. Hunting down a member of staff within a crowded station is not the same as being able to easily locate a ticket office.

“The Mayor needs to also give very clear assurance that the increase in Tube running hours will not just be traded off with a reduction in night time buses.”
