TfL made staggering failures in handling Bombardier contract

A report commissioned by Transport for London has highlighted multiple failures in the handling of a contract awarded to Bombardier for tube signalling upgrades, which collapsed leaving behind an estimated £100m loss for taxpayers.

Commenting on the findings, Caroline Pidgeon said:

“It is staggering that TfL simply accepted at face value significant claims made by Bombardier before they awarded such a major contract. TfL signed up with a company that had no track record in London and little chance of being able to deliver signalling on some of the oldest and most complex Tube lines in the world.”
