The Mayor needs to act to ensure the safety of children in care

Speaking to London Live about her work on the issues of children going missing from local authority care in London, and the urgency of this issue in the light of the findings around abused children in Rotherham, Caroline Pidgeon said:

"There clearly are some parallels between London and Rotherham. We don't know yet the nature of the problem in London. The Office of the Children's Commissioner has done some reports in recent years, and within that they've made it clear that often children haven't been taken as seriously by the police and authorities as they should have. ...

"I feel [the Mayor] is not taking it as seriously as I would like, and it's something I will be raising with him again."
