Rebuilding West Hampstead Overground station

On Tuesday 20th January, Caroline Pidgeon AM joined Cllr Flick Rea, Lib Dem Councillor for Fortune Green Ward and officials from Transport for London's Overground team to look at the plans to rebuild West Hampstead Overground station.

Whilst on the site visit, Caroline was nearly knocked over by a reversing lorry at the neighbouring building site which did not have any audible sound! This was quickly reported to the site and "Considerate Contractors".

Whilst welcoming the clear investment in the station, there are clearly some concerns about the design including the very high roof which has the feel more of a garage forecourt than a railway station.

Caroline was then joined by local parliamentary campaigner Maajid Nawaz who met the TfL officials and architects and fed in concerns.

"Whilst I welcome the step free access at the new station, I understand some of the local community concerns about the design of the new roof. I hope TfL will make some changes to their plans to respond to local residents" commented Caroline.
