Joining Sutton residents against bus route 463 changes

Tom Brake MP, and Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat Mayoral candidate, have formally delivered a petition with 500 signatures opposing changes to bus route 463 changes. Transport for London’s Head of Consultation Peter Bradley officially received the petition in person.

The petition, organised by local residents, is against TfL’s proposed changes to route 463. TfL is considering altering the route south of Beddington so that it runs via Maldon Road, Montagu Gardens and Demesne Road (instead of along Croydon Road).

The petition showed that most people circled the “strongly oppose” option. Residents expressed concerns that the new changes would result in greatly increased noise pollution, air pollution, traffic congestion, child safety issues, parking restrictions in unsuitable residential roads, and would reduce the health and well being of residents.

Tom Brake said:

"I am pleased that TfL officially received the petition. I have high hopes of its success. We must now sit back and wait for TfL’s final decision."
