Shocking figures reveal the true impact of moped crime in London

The increasing problem of crime committed by moped riders has been highlighted in figures obtained by the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Caroline Pidgeon.

Following her questioning of the Mayor, figures have been released showing that in just nine months there have been 17,606 ‘moped enabled’ crimes in London.

The figures reveal that moped raiders are affecting every London Borough, although the crimes at present are heavily dominant in Camden, Islington and Westminster.

Commenting on the latest figures, Caroline Pidgeon said:

“Crimes involving mopeds are rapidly becoming the biggest scourge in many parts of the capital. Finding new tactics to prevent and stop these crimes on our streets is essential."

“We need to ensure there figures are quickly reversed, to ensure our streets are safer for both local residents and the huge number of visitors and tourists that come to Camden, Islington and Westminster.”
