Transport issues in Carshalton

Caroline Pidgeon joined Carshalton Lib Dem Councillors Hamish Pollock, Alan Salter, Jill Whitehead and Peter Fosdike along with local MP Tom Brake, and former Lib Dem Councillor and Sutton Seniors activist Chris Pennington, to look at a number of transport concerns in the Carshalton area on 19th July. Caroline walked around Carshalton Ponds and Carshalton High Street before attending a Carshalton Local Area Committee discussing a range of transport issues with local residents and councillors.

Previously Caroline has questioned the Mayor about the Heritage Railings around Carshalton Ponds.

Following the visit Caroline has now written to Transport for London to find out why there has been no planning application from TfL to Sutton Council to replace and renew the heritage railings around Carshalton Ponds. You can read Caroline's letter here.

“The railings on the red route are still in a terrible condition and every few weeks a motorist goes through them and ends up in the ponds. This issue is serious and desperately needs resolving before a bad, even fatal, accident occurs” commented Caroline.

Caroline has also taken up the issue of welcome signs on Carshalton High Street which TfL are refusing to grant permission.
