Campaigning in Ealing

On Tuesday 4th June Caroline Pidgeon AM joined local campaigners and Councillors Jon Ball and Gary Malcolm on a visit to Ealing to look at a number of issues affecting the Borough and local residents.

Ealing Broadway
Caroline and the team had a look around Ealing Broadway and heard from campaigner Tony Miller about the poor interchange planned with the long awaited Crossrail.

“It seems a missed opportunity if the station is not reconfigured to make it a model interchange between Crossrail, national rail, and the tube as well as with cycling and buses” commented Caroline.

Caroline has written to Crossrail about these issues.

Policing
Following a visit to talk with the Business Improvement District for the town centre, Caroline and the local Lib Dem Team met the Ealing Borough Police Commander and discussed the impact of the Mayor’s plans to close Police front counters and stations and to reduce the dedicated local Safer Neighbourhood Teams to one PC and one PCSO per ward.

The team will be watching closely the impact of these changes.

South Acton Station
Caroline joined local Councillor Gary Malcolm at South Acton station to look and hear for herself the noise from announcements which have been affecting local residents.

“I have been pleased to work with Cllr Gary Malcolm in taking up the noise issue with London Overground and hope that there have now been some improvements” commented Caroline.

Turnham Green Station
Caroline joined Cllr Gary Malcolm at Turnham Green Station and was able to report that the Mayor has recently agreed in a written answer to Caroline to consult local residents on stopping Piccadilly trains for longer hours during the day.

“I hope that details of this consultation will emerge soon and that local people can have their say to get more Piccadilly line trains stopping at Turnham Green for local residents” added Caroline.
