Campaigning in Richmond against Heathrow expansion

Caroline spent a morning in Richmond town center, and at Kew station, on Easter Saturday getting signatures against a third runway at Heathrow and talking to local residents about transport tissues with Munira Wilson our local candidate and Brian Paddick, as well as other local activists such as Robin Meltzer, Shas Sheehan and Cllr Stephen Knight.

Canvassing in Islington

Caroline joined a huge team of activists out in the sun on Sunday knocking on doors in Islington. The team included Baroness Sarah Ludford MEP and Bridget Fox.

“We had a great reception from local people and enjoyed the support of a team of Romanian Liberal Party members as well as many Islington and London activists” commented Caroline.

Paddick and Pidgeon launch One Hour Bus Ticket

The London Liberal Democrats toured a range of London boroughs on Wednesday 30th March in a campaign bus to launch their fares package for Londoners.

The Fairer Fares package proposes Six Ways To Save, one of which is a One Hour Bus Ticket that will allow people to hop-on and hop-off buses as many times as needed within one hour, paying only one single fare.

The scheme works successfully in several European cities ensuring that multiple journeys on one of the most popular forms of transport are kept as low as possible. From the moment an Oyster card is touched, or a paper ticket is printed, passengers would have 60 minutes in which to make additional journeys without any extra cost.

Out and about in Hampstead

Caroline joined local councillors and campaigners in Hampstead, Camden on Sunday 25th March knocking on doors and talking to local people about the forthcoming London elections and issues of concern.

Caroline joined local councillors and campaigners in Southwark on Saturday 24th March knocking on doors and talking to local people about their concerns about crime.

Lib Dems help fundraise for Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith

Caroline recently joined Liberal Democrat mayoral Brian Paddick at a fundraising event for the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith. She was also joined by Steve Bradley, a Liberal Democrat London Assembly candidate and Lambeth Councillor.

A year ago the centre was struggling to raise funds to buy the premises in which it is situated. Now following a grant by the Irish Government and other fundraising the management of the centre are planning to demolish and totally rebuild the facility, including residential housing.

Campaigning in the Dollis Hill by-election

Caroline joined Liberal Youth members, Alison Hopkins (Lib Dem candidate in the Dollis Hill by-election), Cllr Daniel Brown and Bob Wharton out and about knocking on doors and talking to local residents on Saturday.

"Alison is a truly local champion having lived for decades in the area. I hope Alison is elected a a strong representative for Dollis Hill working hard on issues such as local libraries" commented Caroline.

Action day in Croydon and Sutton

Caroline Pidgeon joined Sarah Ludford MEP, Tom Brake MP and Brian Paddick out and about campaigning in Croydon and Sutton on Saturday as part of a big action day in London. The team were joined by Liberal Youth and carried out a residents’ survey in areas such as Waddon.

“The sun shone and we had a really welcoming response form local residents,” commented Caroline.

Launching the Lib Dem anti-crime campaign in Wimbledon

Caroline Pidgeon joined Brian Paddick and the London Lib Dem team in Wimbledon to launch the Lib Dem campaign on crime and policing for May's elections, with a strong focus on community-based policing.

Brian was pleased to return to Merton, where as Borough Commander between 1997 and 2000 he delivered the biggest drop in crime of any London borough over the period.
