Caroline calls for Southwark police stations to remain open

Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member and Southwark Councillor Caroline Pidgeon is calling on Southwark’s Borough Police commander, Malcolm Tillyer, to withdraw the threat of closure notices issued last week to East Dulwich, Rotherhithe and Camberwell police stations.

Caroline Pidgeon’s demand comes following a Metropolitan Police Authority meeting last Friday that put the whole police station closure programme on hold, and called for a full review of the Met’s plans.

Campaigning with Oliver Brooks in Christchurch

Caroline spent a sunny Saturday 28th June helping Oliver Brooks, candidate in the Christchurch ward by-election in Bexley. Oliver is a young and energetic candidate who has lived all his life in Bexley. The by-election follows the resignation of Ian Clements – one of the key advisors to the new Mayor, Boris Johnson.

Keeping track of the East London Line extension

On 24 June Caroline and other London Assembly members went on a site visit in Shoreditch to look at how work is progressing on the East London Line Extension Phase 1, and to look at the area where one of the new bridges had slipped during its installation near Liverpool Street station.

"The works were very impressive and progress to date seems to be fast and effective. I look forward to funding being agreed for the phase 2 of the East London Line joining up Camberwell, Peckham, Clapham High Street and Clapham Junction" said Caroline Pidgeon.

Henley – now a Boris-free zone

Kennington Fete 2008

The Kennington Fete was a huge success once again in Cleaver Square. There were more stalls than ever and thanks to the weather, more people than ever! Well done to all involved.

Caroline particularly enjoyed the Tai Chi demonstration and the fantastic food stalls.
