Pedestrians and cyclists need a safe crossing at Charlie Brown's roundabout

Caroline Pidgeon has formally delivered to the Mayor a petition calling for action on the dangerous traffic hotspot at Charlie Brown's roundabout in South Woodford.

The petition calls for safe crossings on the approach roads to the roundabout, for pedestrians and cyclists, with traffic signals if necessary.

Redbridge Liberal Democrat Councillor Gwyneth Deakins has championed the issue and campaigned with local residents, with over 150 signatures on the petition.

Cllr Deakins said:

"There is very strong support in the local area for pdestrian crossings, and we got a great reception on the doorstep when collecting signatures. TfL say they have plans to do this work but they have said that before, and nothing got done. This time we want the new Mayor to make an absolute comitment to this project.

"With new housing developments proposed by the Council for this area it is even more vital that this project goes ahead very soon"
