Is Mayor’s breach of his pledge on affordable housing a further sign of TfL's dire finances?

Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, commenting on the Mayor's announcement that only 40% of homes at the TfL owned Limmo Peninsula in East London will be affordable, said:

"The level of affordable homes proposed on this site falls short of the Mayor’s own minimum target of 50% of homes being affordable on sites he owns. There should be at least 150 further affordable homes on this site.

"I fear that the increasingly dire finances of TfL are behind this decision. The Mayor needs to explain why he is cutting corners on his pledge to Londoners on the delivery of affordable homes."
