Rising passenger numbers expose the foolishness of scrapping the RV1 bus route

New figures obtained from Transport for London reveal that passenger numbers for the RV1 bus route increased during the Summer and Autumn this year, undermining TfL’s justification for scrapping the bus route.

The figures have been obtained by Caroline Pidgeon, the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member and the chair of the London Assembly Transport Committee.

Commenting on the figures, Caroline Pidgeon said:

“There is no denying that passenger numbers on the RV1 are not as high as they were seven or eight years ago, but what is incredibly significant is that passenger numbers are now recovering.

“The increase in passenger numbers on the bus route in the last six months is incredibly important. The rise in the number of people using the bus route during the week and especially at weekends reveals the utter foolishness of the Mayor of London’s plans to completely scrap this bus route.

“TfL should drop their plans for ending this bus route and instead start marketing this bus to ensure that bus passenger numbers continue to grow".
