Let's give London's carers a break

As National Carers Week began – in a year when carers in London and across the country have had a particularly tough time with the challenges presented by the pandemic – Lib Dem London Assembly Members Caroline Pidgeon and Hina Bokhari called for more Government support for carers, including the chance for them to have a break.

Caroline and Hina said:

"During this pandemic, millions in London and beyond have stepped up to look after elderly, disabled and vulnerable people. But now most carers are simply exhausted and haven't had a break for months. The brutal combination of lockdowns, shielding requirements and reduced support services have made the pandemic especially tough.

"We are joining all Lib Dems in calling for Government to provide emergency funding for local councils to give carers a break."
