TfL fare rises bury the myth of any special treatment for London

Caroline Pidgeon AM, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, commenting ahead of the start of Government-imposed fare rises of 4.8% for TfL services, compared to 3.8% for national rail fares, said:

“These fare rises come at a time of a national cost of living crisis and will be very painful for many households. I am especially concerned about the rise in bus fares. Such a steep rise in bus fares is the last thing Londoners need. We need to be getting more people out of cars and onto our buses. Sadly these policies will hinder this process.

“The Government-imposed fare rises on TfL services, which exceed those of rail fares around the country, bury the myth of any special treatment for London.”
