Responding to the terrorist attacks in Israel by Hamas, Liberal Democrat Leader in the London Assembly Caroline Pidgeon AM said:
"London Liberal Democrats condemn these absolutely sickening terrorist attacks by Hamas on Israel and join the call for an immediate cessation of violence and safe return of hostages.
"The scenes of kidnapped and murdered civilians, particularly of children, have been utterly heartbreaking to watch.
"We know that the Jewish community in London has historically been targeted during times of tension in the Middle East.
"We will be pushing to ensure that hate crime of any type is dealt with swiftly and fully under the force of the law and we welcome increased police patrols by the Met.
"Jewish Londoners have our continued support against any intolerance and hatred, today and always."
