With the launch of a trial of Countdown facilities at 8 junctions, Caroline has again stressed the need to ensure that all pedestrian crossings meet national safety standards and provide adequate time for pedestrians to safely cross the road. Last year an investigation by Caroline revealed that across London there were almost 500 pedestrian crossings which are failing to meet minimum safety standards. A year later it is believed that there are still more than 300 pedestrian crossings which fail to provide adequate time for pedestrians to safely cross the road.
