Caroline Pidgeon, Leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group, commenting on today’s admission by the Mayor and Transport for London that weekend closures and upgrade work on the Jubilee Line will not be completed until July, said:
“The Mayor, who is Chair of Transport for London, must now apologise to Londoners for this further delay in completing the upgrade of the Jubilee Line.
“We were first promised that the upgrade work would be completed by October 2010, we were then promised a new deadline of Spring - and we now discover work will not be fully completed until July. And if the Mayor really thinks July counts as Spring he truly has lost his grip on the running of the Tube!
“After all the misery that has faced users of the Jubilee Line it is time the Mayor came clean and explained to Londoners what really is going on. He should also come forward with proposals to compensate the long-suffering Jubilee Line passengers."
