Cable car usage reaches record low

Greenwich Lib Dem blogger Chris Smith reports on the weekly figures showing the lowest usage yet on the Thames cable car, and echoes Caroline Pidgeon's concerns that the cable car is being managed more as a tourist attraction than a serious form of transport.

On a serious note, it is frankly insulting for Greenwich residents, many of whom pay significant amounts for a Zone 3 monthly or yearly travelcard, to then have to pay stupid prices to use this heavily publicly funded transport scheme. It is likely to remain a very underused, and expensive, part of the tourist trail rather than an integral part of north-south links that are being pushed so hard by the council at the moment unless something is done to the ticket prices.
