The whole of London needs rigorous landlord licensing

Inside Croydon reports on the ineffectiveness of Croydon council's landlord licensing scheme - with only one prosecution in the last year.

Caroline told Inside Croydon:

“Within London’s private rented sector there is now a need for a proper and robust framework of regulation across the entire city. The data clearly demonstrates that only a rigorous regime of licensing will result in the enforcement needed to put an end to the problem of rogue landlords that exist across every part of London.”

Responding to the Mayor's police station closure plans

Caroline Pidgeon has set out in a letter to the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime a number of concerns with plans to close some police stations and put more reliance in technology.

In particular, Caroline says:

The plan is lacking in detail and many residents have serious concerns about the scope and extent of the Mayor’s police closure plans. These need to be properly addressed.

As the consultation over the Mayor’s plans to close and sell off police stations across London comes to an end, a call has been made for the Mayor to first examine the continuing practice of senior police officers being offered free accommodation in expensive flats.

After a year of dithering the Mayor finally does the right thing on the Garden Bridge

Mayor cannot ignore the damning Garden Bridge report

Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, commenting on Dame Margaret Hodge's highly critical report on the Garden Bridge, said:

“This is a totally damning report. It is a disgrace that key decisions on the Garden Bridge were driven by electoral cycles rather than any concern for value for money. The report also backs up the long standing finding of the London Assembly that the procurement processes were not open, fair or competitive.
