Yet more delays look likely for Crossrail

Reviewing the situation with Crossrail, Caroline Pidgeon has expressed her concern that services through Central London may well still be two years away.

Caroline told City AM:

"The stark reality is that, although I hope Crossrail opens in early 2021, there are no clear assurances being provided that it will be the case.

"In fact, it is looking very likely that the central section of the line will not be open until the end of 2021, with full integration of the line being even further away."

Mayor must now deliver on the Bakerloo Line extension

Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, has expressed her full support for the extension of the Bakerloo Line.

Setting out her reasons for backing the extension in a detailed submission to TfL’s consultation, Caroline Pidgeon said:

“South East London is at present poorly served by the Underground network. The extension is vital for regeneration in Southwark and Lewisham and for opening up new employment opportunities for thousands of people.

Poor air quality and pollution are issues of huge concern to people across London. Caroline met with Chuka Umunna last week on Oxford Street to talk through how we can improve air quality, particularly in some of the busiest areas of central London. TfL should make it easier to reclaim the £400m of cash sitting on Oyster cards

The BBC reports on Transport for London's figures showing that by September 2019, the cash pile of unclaimed balances and deposits on dormant Oyster cards had reached £399m.

Caroline told the BBC:

"TfL never stops bombarding us with advertisements and information campaigns, but highlighting this cash mountain is one issue that they remain very quiet about.

Someone must finally take responsibility for Crossrail chaos

Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, commenting on the announcement that Crossrail is projected to cost £400 to £650 million more than the funding already committed to the project, and with its expected opening date shifting further to sometime in 2021, said:

“For far too long Crossrail Limited has made key decisions behind closed doors.
