Campaigning in Lewisham

Caroline joined local Assembly candidate John Russell, Cllr Chris Maines, Cllr Julia Fletcher and local members out and about in Lewisham on Friday. The team started in Catford talking about our campaign for a One Hour Bus Ticket, and finished in Downham knocking on doors in the thunder and rain!

Campaigning in Camden Town and Primrose Hill

Caroline joined local campaigner Chris Richards, who is standing to be the local councillor for Camden Town and Primrose Hill on 3rd May, as well as our local Assembly Candidate looking at issues in the area. The team were shocked to see so much dumped rubbish on the streets, which Labour Camden are clearly not dealing with effectively.

“We had a good evening talking to local people about their concerns in the Camden Town area” commented Caroline. Nick Russell, the Lib Dem's local London Assembly candidate, also joined the team door knocking.

Meeting voters in Willesden Green

Caroline spent Thursday afternoon out door knocking in Willesden Green with local Assembly candidate Charlotte Henry, Brent campaigner Bob Wharton and others.

“We had a great response on the doorsteps with people clearly impressed by Brian Paddick’s performance in the hustings debates on TV and understanding the work we have done on the London Assembly” commented Caroline

Charlie Brown's roundabout needs urgent safety action

Caroline joined local Councillors Ian Bond and Gwyneth Deakins out and about in Redbridge on Saturday. The team met local residents and highlighted the terrible problems crossing the main road by the Charlie Brown Roundabout. Cllr Richard Hoskins and other local residents and campaigners joined the team to support the crossing campaign.

Speaking to the Wanstead & Woodford Guardian about TfL's failure to install pedestrian crossings and traffic lights at the roundabout, Caroline said:

"People shouldn't have to take their lives in their hands just to get across the road. It's absolutely staggering.

"We need to make sure something is done urgently to make it safe. The crossing needs to be up to minimum safety standards and this is a big issue at this election for me."

Campaigning in North Richmond

Caroline spent Thursday 5th April out campaigning with Cllr Stephen Knight, Sarah Ludford MEP and others in North Richmond for Jane Dodd who is standing to be a local councillor for the area.

“We met lots of local people who had serious concerns regarding speed of traffic and the lack of a bus stop on Lower Mortlake Road which I have taken up vigorously with TfL” commented Caroline.
