TfL are still in denial over Oyster overcharging

Caroline Pidgeon, leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group and chair of the London Assembly Transport Committee, commenting on new proposals from Transport for London to allow Oyster card users to check their accounts online and to allow Oyster customers to submit refund applications online, said:

“These improvements are welcome and indeed long overdue. Last year alone passengers using Oyster Pay As You Go were wrongly charged maximum fares totalling over £66 million.

Step-free access at last for Wembley Central station

A long-running campaign to improve facilities at Wembley Central tube station has paid off, as Transport for London announced details of new lifts and a stair lift installed at the station.

Brent’s Liberal Democrat Councillors have long campaigned for improvements to Wembley Central. Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson and Alperton councillor Daniel Brown, who has lobbied Network Rail and Transport for London on the issue, said:

Shame of empty buildings owned by TfL in Catford

Speaking to the South London Press about a row of homes in Catford which Transport for London owns but has left empty since 1987, Caroline Pidgeon said:

It is shameful these publicly owned properties have been empty for 25 years. Not only has this been a terrible waste of public money, but the properties are a complete eyesore. It is time TfL stopped making excuses.

Thames Estuary Airport - a pie in the sky idea

Caroline recently gave her full support to campaigners challenging Boris Johnson's proposals for an international airport in the Thames estuary.

On the day of the London Assembly's Annual General Meeting protesters from No Estuary Airport, Airport Watch and Campaign against Climate Change decided to protest outside City Hall to make the views known to the Mayor of London. The campaign against a Thames Estuary Airport is also strongly supported by the RSPB.
