The environmental and health impacts on London will be huge if large increases in flight numbers are allowed to happen, and Caroline is firmly opposed to them.
TfL-funded rapid electric charging points need to be better run, and should stop ripping off owners of electric vehicles: this was Caroline Pidgeon's clear message to the Mayor at January's Mayor's Question Time.
In a written question to the Mayor, Caroline again raised the issue of the heavily polluting proposed Silvertown tunnel - and pointed out this was nowhere in the Mayor's 2016 manifesto, whereas the Rotherhithe-Canary Wharf bridge was promised and has been scrapped.
Caroline visited London City Airport and the surrounding area with Siobhan Benita, Richard Flowers, Chris Maines and Michael Fox to support the Stop City Airport campaign, against expansion, spearheaded by the excellent Alan Houghton.
Caroline took up with the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) the need to tackle serious overcrowding at Stratford station - greater use of Stratford International must be part of the solution.
As a legal wrangle between a contracting firm and Transport for London has delayed the start of the Silvertown Tunnel project, Caroline Pidgeon has called on the Mayor to use the delay as an opportunity to rethink this misguided scheme.
Caroline said:
"Both the mayor and TfL are now in the position where they have been blocked from awarding a major contract for the Silvertown road tunnel.

The Mayor talks about air pollution being a ‘public health emergency’, yet his policy of building a new road tunnel under the Thames will inevitably create more traffic and pollution.
Caroline met campaigners at City Hall to receive a petition to the London Assembly against the Mayor’s plans for a new tunnel between Silvertown and Greenwich. "The case for a new road tunnel just does not stack up when we are trying to clean up London’s air" said Caroline.
